(More customer reviews)I bought this bit to cut case miters in stock up to 3/4" thick. It spins extremely smoothly with no detectable vibration (which I've become accustomed to with Whiteside products). The best thing about this bit, though, which is different from others I considered, is that the cutting surfaces are angled with respect to the vertical axis. If you look at the bit from the side, you'll see that the cutting edge is angled backward, with the bottom forward. This results in a shearing cut across the face of the chamfer, similar to the cut from a spiral down-cut bit. This shearing cut both reduces vibration as you feed the work piece, and also leaves a glass smooth surface. If you're cutting miters, it's especially good, because the cut is made partially with the grain and toward the thin edge of the miter, which protects the fragile point.
