If you are making a through joint, the jig helps you set it up faster the first time, once you figure out how to use it. It has two sides, one for 3/4 inch stock, and one for 5/8. It is not immediately obvious which is which, and the block is not labeled in any way. In any case, there the block gets your set-up pretty close on the first try, but you'll still have to test fit the joint and make micro-adjustments to get a perfect fit.
If you want to make a half-blind joint (where the drawer sides are hidden by the front), the jig is only half helpful. It lets you set the height, but not the fence. Still, that's better than nothing.
Note that this block only saves time the very first time you use the bit. If you are willing to fiddle for a few minutes to set it up, then you can make your own block out of hardwood in two seconds and keep it for the next time.
