(More customer reviews)A jig like this only needs to be machined precisely in order to work well. I don't know why Keller charges nearly $200 for theirs. This one really does the trick.
Just spend the time getting it adjusted properly. Oh, and when you're fastening it down to your mounting block, don't use Home Depot wood screws. They're softer than they seem and the heads twist right off. I had to drill about 3 extra holes in the jig after twisting off a few of those crappy screws. (not MLCS's fault) I finally wound up using a coarse thread drywall screw, and it worked much better.
On MLCS' site, there's a good video on how this is set up and how it works.
Anyway, this jig works as advertised and will save you a lot of money over comparable through DT jigs.
One other thing to watch for: When your router is running and you go to set it down on this jig, don't let the bit hit the jig. It sounds like common sense, but it is easy to do. Naturally, your carbide-tipped router bit will have no trouble at all taking a good chunk out of the aluminum jig.
The MLCS straight and dovetail bits that are included are very nice quality, as is the brass guide bushing. I do with MLCS would go ahead and build these bits with bearings at the top, so the bushing isn't necessary. That's a minor gripe though, it works great.
